About the project

Spring Beast is an annual street art festival combining street art, music, and culture. The festival takes place outdoors in an urban environment, creating unique challenges for sound production.

My role

• Sound engineer for the festival’s music stage
• System design adapted for outdoor environment
• Mixing local and international artists

Challenges

Outdoor festivals in urban environments involve specific challenges:

• Sound restrictions and consideration for neighbors
• Varying weather conditions
• Limited power access and infrastructure
• Acoustic challenges with reflection from buildings

Solutions

• Cardioid subs for directed bass and minimal spill
• Weather-resistant equipment and backup systems
• Continuous communication with organizer about sound levels
• Adaptation of the system to the festival area’s acoustics

Results

The festival was completed without complaints from neighbors despite high energy on stage. Artists and audience were satisfied with the sound quality, and the collaboration with the organizer continues.
